Dr. Rama R Iyer, Advocate, Managing Partner at Ayana Legal, has over 30 years of legal practice and has extensive experience in litigation as well as advisory. As a practicing advocate, she has appeared before various courts and fora including the Supreme Court of India in addition to different tribunals and Commissions. She heads and oversees various areas of law in the firm including Litigation, Commercial Transactions, Corporate Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, Real Estate Laws, Gender based laws to name a few. After graduating in Law from Bangalore University Law College and achieving Masters from the National Law School of India University in which she topped her batch, she began her career in Mumbai before embarking in a robust practice in Bangalore.
Dr. Iyer has been bestowed with prestigious accolades and is highly acclaimed by the legal fraternity. She was invited by the President of the International Court of Justice at The Hague, Netherlands for expert consultation on International Laws relating to women in the corporate sector including laws related to sexual harassment at workplace, in February 2014. She has been bestowed with the prestigious National Law Day award by the Indian Bar Association for work in the field of women’s rights. Over the years, she has been invited to share her knowledge in various significant forums as a thought leader. Few of the most notable speakership opportunities were in Orlando, Florida on Product Safety Laws, 2007, where she spoke on 'The Indian Laws and Where We Stand'; Keynote speaker in the World Law Dialogue in 2013 along with other distinguished personalities such as Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, Mr. Prashant Bhushan, Mr. Harish Salve to name a few.
Firmly believing in empowering lives, Dr. Iyer regularly conducts training programmes for as a resource person and also devotes time to assist a few NGOs in matters of civic importance. She has also conducted training programmes for MNCs and PSUs, faculty of educational institutions, students, police officials, service providers etc. on various areas of law. She has also conducted many training sessions in governmental and quasi-governmental organizations with special interest in laws governing workplace management.
